BuyWise — AI Buying Advisor

Free Chrome Extension

Search any product and get an instant Buy / Consider / Skip verdict — built from real reviews, deals, price history and community sentiment, with AI summaries powered by your own OpenAI key. No more reading a hundred reviews to make one decision.

What BuyWise does

BuyWise is an AI buying advisor that lives in Chrome's side panel. Search a product — or let it detect the one you're viewing on Amazon or Flipkart — and it gathers real signals from across the web, then returns a single, confident Buy / Consider / Skip verdict with the reasons behind it: pros, cons, community sentiment by source, current deals, a fake-review trust score, a Q&A section and smart alternatives.

It's BYOK (bring your own key): AI summaries run on your own OpenAI API key, and an optional free YouTube key adds video review signals. Your keys stay on your device in chrome.storage and are sent only to the providers you choose — BuyWise has no backend server at all. Without a key, it runs in demo mode so the UI always works.

How to use BuyWise

Privacy by design

BuyWise is fully serverless. Signals are gathered directly from public sources, and your OpenAI key never leaves the device except to call OpenAI itself. Keys are stored locally — never synced, never logged. The extension requests only the permissions it needs: a side panel scoped to one tab, tab access for prefill, and local storage for your keys and a 24-hour result cache.

Who it's for

Anyone who wants to stop second-guessing purchases — shoppers comparing options, deal-hunters, and anyone who'd rather have one grounded verdict than wade through endless reviews. It works in any Chromium browser with side panel support (Chrome 116+) and is free on the Chrome Web Store; you only pay your own OpenAI usage (roughly $0.02–0.05 per fresh lookup, $0 on cache hits).

FAQ

Do I need an API key? For full AI verdicts, yes — add your own OpenAI key (and optionally a free YouTube key). Without any key BuyWise runs in demo mode with a sample verdict so you can try the UI.

Where do the signals come from? Real reviews, deals, price context and community sentiment from public sources like Reddit and YouTube, summarized by AI into one verdict.

Are my keys safe? They're stored locally on your device, never synced and never sent anywhere except the AI/data provider you configured.

Is it free? Yes — free on the Chrome Web Store. You only pay your own OpenAI usage for fresh lookups; cached results within 24 hours cost nothing.
