Curio — AI Tutor & Homework Helper

Free Chrome Extension

A private, grounded, age-appropriate AI tutor for a single chapter. Upload your reading material, and Curio will help you understand it with grounded chat, step-by-step math, puzzles, and a final graded assessment.

What Curio does

Curio transforms any reading material or textbook chapter into an interactive, grounded learning experience. Built as a local-first MV3 extension, it keeps your data private while offering powerful AI tutoring capabilities. Whether you're stuck on a complex concept or need to verify your math homework, Curio is designed to help without just giving away the answers.

Instead of sending your data to a remote backend, Curio processes everything locally in your browser. It uses your chosen AI provider (Anthropic, OpenAI, or Gemini) to provide explanations, generate quizzes, and help you master the material one chapter at a time.

How to use Curio

Built for privacy & safety

Curio is built with privacy and safety as its core tenets. Chapter content lives only in memory and is wiped the moment you close the window. Your API key is stored locally in chrome.storage.local and is never synced. Curio also includes an adult minors-consent gate and conditional second-pass safety reviews to ensure the content and interactions remain age-appropriate.

Who it's for

Students looking for a private, focused study companion to help them understand difficult textbook chapters, and parents who want a safe, grounded AI tutor that won't just do the homework for their kids, but actually help them learn it.

FAQ

Do I need an API key? Yes, you'll need to provide your own API key from Anthropic, OpenAI, or Gemini. This key is stored securely on your local device.

How does it handle math? Curio features a lightweight arithmetic verifier that flags wrong numeric equalities instead of silently rewriting them, helping students identify their own calculation errors.

Is it available now? Yes — Curio is available for free on the Chrome Web Store.
